PHONEHOLM.ART: Brand Identity
The complete brand identity for PHONEHOLM.ART, a creative freelance practice rooted in handmade work: crochet, pixel art, and original illustration. Includes brand story, personality, voice and tone, color palette, typography, logo system, and real-world applications.
PHONEHOLM.ART is a creative freelance practice rooted in handmade work: crochet stuffed animals, pixel art, plush and human clothing, sewing experiments, and original illustration. The name means "phone home", intentional connection, instead of whatever the algorithm decides to feed you.
It's a portfolio, but it's also its own little broadcast. A throwback to better times. Built with scene kid naivety, the soul of rage-comic era memes, and devotion to the forgotten corners of the internet: Kid Pix, DeviantArt journals, early YouTube AMVs, Blingee, Quizilla, iScribble, Photobucket... The sites that taught an entire generation how to make something and put it online just because they wanted to!
The website is a portfolio, but it's also a place to have fun. There's a blog for thoughts and updates, a guestbook inspired by AOL Instant Messenger, and a webring connecting to other small, handmade corners of the web.
Tucked into all of it is the Scene Kid Corner, an interactive playground with a scene name generator, a "which scene r u" quiz, and a future doll maker, plus hidden details like animated buddy icons and pixel GIFs scattered throughout.
It exists at the crossroads of craft and nostalgia. It exists on purpose, as a small, sincere alternative to a web that feels increasingly soul-sucking, monetized, and exhausting. PHONEHOLM.ART is personal and earnest. It doesn't perform nostalgia ironically, it genuinely loves the things it loves.
The brand writes in all lowercase across most contexts, in keeping with that casual, personal voice. The one exception is the official wordmark, PHONEHOLM.ART, which is always presented in all caps, except in the Thank You Note signature.
